Prevent slipping with a non-slip stair
A fall is very risky for the elderly, but make no mistake: mothers with laundry baskets and playing children also run great risks when climbing stairs.
You can of course prevent falls by moving to an apartment, or by having an expensive stairlift installed. Quite a hassle and often a waste of money!
